Greenwood, SC—Irene (Laczo) Newberger, 91, entered eternal life on Friday, November 9, 2012 at Wesley Commons in Greenwood, SC. Born in New Brunswick, NJ, daughter of the late Frank and Elizabeth (Sipos) Laczo, she resided in New Brunswick, Three Bridges, and settled to Greenwood, SC in 2005.

Irene attended St. Ladislaus grade school and New Brunswick High School. During World War II she worked as a dental assistant for three years, and then later joined Johnson & Johnson in New Brunswick where she worked as a Cost Accounting Clerk for 34 years. During this time Irene was a member of St. Ladislaus Parish. Irene retired in 1984 from Johnson & Johnson. She became a parishioner of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church in Three Bridges for 16 years. Since 2005 Irene was a communicant at Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church in Greenwood, SC.

Besides her parents, Irene was predeceased by her husband Louis M. Newberger in September of 1971.

Irene leaves behind two loving children and their spouses, Thomas and Linda Newberger of New Braunfels, TX and Margaret and Larry Pensak of Cross Hill, SC. She will be deeply missed by four cherished grandchildren, Emily and Michael Pensak and Ryan and Matthew Newberger; and three adored great grandchildren, Chloe, Lindsey, and Robert. She will be equally missed by Stella and Tammy Newberger, and Julia Pensak, spouses of the grandsons.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation at Countryside Funeral Home, 724 Route 202 North, Three Bridges, NJ 08887 on Wednesday, November 14 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. and on Thursday, November 15 from 8:15-8:45 a.m.

Funeral services will begin on Thursday, November 15 at 8:45 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a 9:30 a.m. funeral liturgy at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church in Three Bridges with Fr. Tom Serafin officiating. Committal words and interment will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery in New Brunswick.
