Jim Thorpe, PA – Edward Alfred Agnew, 85, entered into eternal life on Monday, January 21, 2013 in North Port, FL. Born in Newark, NJ to his late parents Edward F. and Caroline (Glover) Agnew, Edward had resided in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Florida throughout his life.
Edward honorably served his country for thirty-seven years in the United States Navy, retiring as Lieutenant Commander. He was employed by the State of New Jersey, working for the University of Medicine and Dentistry as well as Rutgers University where he was a Senior Systems Annalist and Project Manager.
Throughout his life, Edward served the Lord in the Presbyterian and Methodist Churches. He enjoyed being active in all the churches he belonged to, including Venice-Nokomis United Methodist Church in Nokomis, FL and the Grace-St. Paul’s United Methodist of Jim Thorpe, PA. He spread the good word of the Lord as a member of the Gideons International and Full Gospel Businessmen’s Fellowship in America, both located within the Warren County area of New Jersey.
Edward was active with Teen Challenge and most recently he ended his work with America’s Godly Heritage and Vision 2000. He touched the lives of many people with the Word of God and will be greatly missed.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Doris M. Agnew who passed away on May 11, 2007.
Edward leaves behind five loving and dedicated children; James, Robert, William and Eric Agnew and Diane Jones, thirteen adored grandchildren and fifteen cherished great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation in the Countryside Funeral Home, 724 Route 202 North, Three Bridges, NJ 0887 on Sunday, January 27, 2013 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and on Monday, January 28, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.
Funeral services will begin in the funeral home on Monday, January 28, 2013 at 10:45 a.m. followed by burial in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Ringoes, NJ.
