Alice "Lesha" Pauline O'Shea passed away surrounded by her family  on 21 September 2023 after a courageous battle with lung cancer,

Lesha was born, second among six siblings, in the Bronx on November 15, 1945. She was raised in Monroe, New York where her parents, William F. and Alice O'Dwyer O'Shea, owned and operated an automobile repair shop. From a young age Lesha was described as a passionate spitfire, "tomboy", and could typically be found on a mission in the woods with skinned knees.

Upon losing her father at the age of twelve, she decided she wanted to become a physician. As a young woman Lesha attended Thevenet Hall, where her love for learning was sparked. This was a defining moment in Lesha's life and one that would shape many adventures in the years to come.

Lesha was married after high school and had two children, Morgan Forest Sageheart, born Clair Marie Jones, and Christopher "Chris" Brian Jones. She remarried Francisco "Paco" Rafael More', who also became a physician after losing a parent, merging cultures at a time when it wasn't easy. They had a daughter, Providencia "Povi" Clara More' and raised Chris, Morgan, and Povi together. Lesha and Paco purchased a 100-year old field stone house in Middletown, New York, that she restored alongside her brothers in a period she often referred to as one of the most fulfilling times of her life.

Lesha never let the difficulties of her age or gender squash her dream of becoming a doctor, and she graduated medical school with honors. In the early 1980s Lesha, Paco, and their children moved to the Dominican Republic. There, Lesha became bilingual and learned to practice medicine in a foreign language. Years later, when the family moved back to the United States, they ultimately settled in Sayreville, New Jersey. Both Lesha and Paco practiced medicine, and Lesha became board certified in Child Psychiatry. Paco, the love of Lesha's life, passed away too soon in 1992.

Lesha was ardent about patient advocacy and helping marginalized and underrepresented people. At the Garden State Youth Correction Facility, Yardville, she launched a campaign to collect books, calendars, and greeting cards. She battled with administration and documented the drop of violent incidents among those in the prison population receiving these resources. She was supported in this endeavor by her family, friends and colleagues, libraries, and outside organizations. Together, they collected many thousands of books.

Lesha had other adventures including obtaining her private pilot's license, zipping around in her Nissan 300Z, and going to a yearly Broadway show with her family on her birthday. She explored her ancestry through travel to places like Ireland and Newfoundland.

Lesha will also be remembered for her amazing Cuban cooking. She was likely one of the few cooks in Sayreville, NJ that served roast pork with mojito, beans, rice, and fried plantains for Thanksgiving (and for every holiday!). She will be remembered for her love of music and the ocean, her colorful language, and her fondness for dogs, in particular her oversized German Shepherd, "Tank".

Lesha was tenacious and strong willed, quick tempered, outspoken, and loyal. Lesha was often incredibly generous and someone who when on your side would walk through fire for you.

Most important to Lesha, also known as, Doc, Mom, Grandma, Abu, Baba, sister, aunt, niece, and dear friend, was the love of her family and friends. In the last year of her life, Lesha spent every single day with at least one of her children and often in the company of her beloved grandchildren. Lesha was said to be "larger than life" and that will be more true now than ever, as we hold her in our hearts and remember her even though she has left this earthly plane.

In addition to her parents, Lesha was predeceased by her husband Francisco Rafael More', her siblings Daniel O'Shea, Bobby O'Dwyer, Maureen Daly, sister-in-law Janice O'Shea and bother-in-law Thomas Daly.

Alice is survived by her loving children; Christopher Brian Jones and his wife Mercedes Monica Jones, Morgan Forest Sageheart and her husband Adrian Goodall, and Providencia Clara More'; her dear grandchildren, Edward "Alex" Jones and his wife Courtney, Sofia Pirnia, Emmanuel Jones, Francesco Jones, Nico More Downie and his father Steve Downie and fiancé Brandy Novak and daughter Brynlee; she is also survived by her cherished great granddaughter Addison Jones; brothers William O'Shea and wife Marybeth and Seamus O'Shea and wife Cindy; and much loved nieces and nephews Maureen, Tom, Jennifer, Dan (Daly), Deirdre, James, Kyle, Dan (O'Shea), and their spouses and children.
