Obituary

Flemington, NJ – Allan Martin Kierstead, 84, passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2024. Born in Montclair, NJ son of the late Martin and Marjorie (Bell) Kierstead, he grew up in Bloomfield, NJ and settled in Flemington.

An honorably discharged veteran of the United States Army, Allan faithfully served his country during the Vietnam War. He was a graduate of Rutgers University. He married Patricia Adele Miller in 1966 and the two had their son, James Allan in 1969 and daughter, Pamela Amy in 1972. Allan's career encompassed various automobile dealerships most notably Scerbo Pontiac, Joyce Honda, Bellavia Pontiac, Artsma Chevrolet, and Brook Chevrolet. He worked as a business manager, and also in finance and insurance, as well as a life products manager at American Mutual.

During his lifetime, Allan volunteered for numerous organizations including Meals on Wheels. He was treasurer at his local church and was a poll worker.

Allan leaves behind his beloved wife of 57 years, Patricia Adele (Miller) Kierstead, loving son, Jim Kierstead of Manhattan, NY and wonderful daughter, Pam and her husband Frank Minch; and two adored grandchildren whom he loved very much, Kevin James Minch and Erin Faith Minch.

A gathering celebrating Allan's life will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2024 from 1:30-4:30 p.m. at Countryside Funeral Home, 724 Route 202 North, Three Bridges, NJ 08887. A memorial service and military honors will begin at 4:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Allan's name on behalf of his niece, Kristen Miller, would be appreciated. Donations should be sent to Employment Horizons, 10 Ridgedale Avenue, Cedar Knolls, NJ 07927, c/o Karen Rynearson. Allan and his niece, who is severely autistic, had a bond which holds a special place in the family's heart. This organization has helped Kristen tremendously.
