Angelo
Petillo
Jun 7, 1944 — Mar 26, 2024
Angelo John "AJ" Petillo, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, peacefully entered eternal life on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, surrounded by his loving family at home in Flemington, NJ. His legacy is marked by service, dedication, and cherished memories.
Born and raised in Morristown, NJ, Angelo was the son of the late Michael and Theresa (nee Malone) Petillo. Throughout his life, he called several New Jersey towns home, including Morris Plains, Denville, and Brookside, before settling in Flemington in 2001.
Angelo's journey was rich with experiences. As a graduate of Morristown High School, he went on to serve his country with honor as a sergeant in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War from 1964 to 1968. His bravery earned him accolades, including the Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.
For over 35 years, Angelo worked diligently as a facilities manager at Jersey Central Power & Light in Morristown, retiring in 2002. His commitment to his work and community left a lasting impact.
Beyond his professional life, AJ found joy in simple pleasures. He loved traveling, shared camaraderie at the gun range with friends, and passionately cheered for the New York Yankees. But above all, his heart belonged to his family, especially his cherished grandchildren.
Angelo's beloved wife of 56 years, Adele Ann (nee Parrillo) Petillo, stood by his side through life's journey. Their union began on July 15, 1967, a day of holy matrimony that would shape their lives forever. Together, they raised two loving children: Beth and her husband, Eric Luque and Michael and Audrey Petillo. Their family circle includes four precious grandchildren: Brianne, Andrew, Ella, and Darian.
Angelo will be remembered not only for his service and accomplishments but also for his generous spirit and positive attitude. His kindness touched the lives of many, leaving an indelible mark on those who knew him.
To honor Angelo's memory, relatives and friends are invited to attend the viewing on Monday, April 1, from 4-8 p.m. at Countryside Funeral Home located at 724 Route 202 North, Three Bridges, NJ 08887.
