Anthony "Tony" Esposito, 90, of Flemington, NJ, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 5, 2026.

Born on July 1, 1935, in Jersey City, Tony graduated Snyder HS in 1954 and played baseball for the Build Better Boys baseball league. His talents took him to Major League Baseball tryouts with the New York Giants and the St. Louis Cardinals.  His love of baseball continued as a successful coach for the Jersey City Youth baseball league and Bayonne Vroom Learning Center. To celebrate his 70th birthday, his family gifted him with a trip to SF Giants Fantasy Camp where he played with the pros.

Tony was a machinist by trade with the Trodyne Corporation and supported the war efforts during the Viet Nam War producing critical  helicopter components.  He then worked for Fedway Wine & Liquors as an import warehouse manager.  After his retirement, he went on to work the next 23 years at  BJ's Wholesale Club in Flemington. He was a familiar and welcoming face to shoppers as the "tire guy" and then the greeter where his kindness left a lasting impression on everyone who passed through the doors. Tony was also a parishioner at St. Magdalen Church, and made so many friends that he was even referred to by some as the "Mayor of Flemington."

On May 21, 1960, he married the love of his life, Rose Frances (Dalessio) at Mount Carmel Church, and they remained married for 58 years raising their two children in Jersey City and then relocating to Flemington in 1994 to be closer to their family.  Tony loved horseracing, and all sports, especially the San Francisco Giants, and watching Penn State football alongside his family. He was very proud of his three grandchildren who all were in the Penn State Marching Blue Band.

Tony is predeceased by his wife, Rose. He is survived by his daughter Toni Lynn and husband, Patrick M. Burke of Branchburg, NJ; his son, John Anthony Esposito of Davie, Florida, three loving grandchildren, Krystina R. Payne and her husband Stephen M., Cara M., and Patrick A; and two great-grandchildren, Arthur W. and Reid P. Payne. He is also survived by his brother George Esposito, his sister-in-law, Joan Dalessio, his loving niece, Debra Dalessio, his favorite aunt, Frances Kahle, as well as numerous loving nieces, nephews, close family and many friends.

A wake will be held on Wednesday, January 7, 2026,  from 4-8 p.m. and on Thursday,  January 8, from 8:45 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. at Countryside Funeral Home, 724 US-202, Three Bridges, NJ 08887. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in memory of Tony on Thursday, January 8, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Magdalen de Pazzi Roman Catholic Church, 105 Mine St., Flemington, NJ 08822 with interment following at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington, NJ.
