Obituary

Flemington, NJ—Bernard "Ben" Mulhearn, 85, entered eternal life on Monday, February 2, 2015 at Hunterdon Medical Center with his wife and family by his side. Born in Linden, NJ, son of the late Bernard Mulhearn and Louise (Graham) Estok, Bernard grew up in Elizabeth, raising his own family in Scotch Plains before settling to Flemington in 2002.



Bernard is a graduate of St. Mary's High School in Elizabeth where he will always be remembered for his athleticism. He worked as a Computer Systems Analyst as owner and CEO of CCS, Inc. as well as working for, and consulting many other companies throughout his life. Bernard faithfully served our country in the United States Army during the Korean War, serving two tours in Greenland. He was a very active parishioner of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church in Three Bridges as a member of the Knights of Columbus #15540, the Men's Club and the Seton Seniors. He also belonged to the St. Mary's Hilltoppers Club and was a volunteer fireman in Edison in his early days. Bernard loved working outdoors, gardening, traveling and was an avid boater. Most of all, he loved spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren.


Besides his parents, Bernard was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Arleen and sister, Louise DiBella.


Surviving are his loving wife of 60 years, Dolores (Downey) Mulhearn; four loving children, Joseph Mulhearn and his wife Nancy, Lynn Hodges and her husband Harold, Thomas Mulhearn and his wife Ann Marie, and Maureen Badger and her husband Scott. Bernard will be deeply missed by his dear sister, Bernice Sullivan and fifteen adored grandchildren, Alex, Marissa, Grant, Hayley, Matthew, Ryan, Michael, David, Lisa, Alyssa, Kathryn, Scott Jr., Amanda, Dylan, and Kevin.


Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation at Countryside Funeral Home, 724 Route 202 North, Three Bridges, NJ 08887 on Friday, February 6 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. and on Saturday, February 7 from 9:45-10:15 a.m.


Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 7 beginning 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home followed by an 11:00 a.m. funeral liturgy at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church in Three Bridges. Interment will follow at Hazelwood Cemetery in Rahway, NJ. Memorial contributions may be made in Bernard's name to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church, 105 Summer Road, Three Bridges, NJ 08887.
