Lebanon, NJ - Betty Jean (nee Hughes) Adams, 86, entered into eternal life on Thursday, March 31, 2022 at Hunterdon Medical Center in Raritan Township, NJ.  Born in Dayton, OH, daughter of the late David Earl and Thorhilda (nee Berge) Hughes, she was raised in Three Bridges, NJ and later settled in Flemington, NJ.

Betty Jean was a self-employed seamstress and homemaker who took pride in caring for her family.  She was a member of the Flemington Methodist Church in Flemington, NJ and giving back to her community was very important to her.  Betty Jean volunteered for important causes such as Meals on Wheels, Flemington Pioneers, Flemington Elks and cheerleading programs.  She enjoyed sewing, antiquing, cooking, baking, reading, gardening, trips to the beach and caring for her dogs Teddy and Fuzzy.   Betty Jean's greatest passion and joy in life was spending time with her children and grandchildren.  She was a loving, kind, generous and supportive Mother ("Grammy").

Betty Jean was predeceased by her parents, beloved husband, William E. Adams on October 4, 2019; daughter, Elizabeth Anne Stites; siblings, Rhoda Dilts, Donald Hughes, Alfred Hughes, and Alice Karkas; and daughter-in-law, JoAnn Adams.

Betty Jean is survived by her sister Shirley Kennedy, brother Kenneth Hughes, five loving children, William E. Adams, Jr. of Myrtle Beach, SC, Jayne LaMothe and her husband Bob of Clinton, NJ, Holly Jean Thatcher of Flemington, NJ, James Adams and his wife Holly Gay of Ocean Isle Beach, NC, and John Quincy Adams and his wife Colleen of Hillsborough, NJ; nine cherished grandchildren, Robyn (Brad), Heather (Nick), Stephanie, Alex (Shelby), Colby, Jennifer (Doug), Lindsey (Mike), Matthew, and Zachary; nine great grandchildren, Paige, Allison, Lily Jean, Lukas, Avery, Winnie, Henry, Claire, and Sophia ; and great great grandson, Kyree.
