Betty Lou Garcia, age 88, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at Morristown Medical Center with her loved ones by her side. She was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey, and was the daughter of the late John and Helen Snyder. Betty Lou grew up in Essex County before raising her own family in Florham Park and then settling in Bridgewater, New Jersey during her latest chapters.
Betty Lou dedicated 18 years of her career as a documentation specialist at Sandoz in East Hanover, New Jersey. She was a longtime parishioner of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church in Florham Park. Deeply committed to her community, she served for many years with the Florham Park Volunteer First Aid Squad, including being part of the first squad in the town to deliver a baby. One of Betty Lou's most treasured joys was traveling, particularly with her husband and family to Marco Island, FL and Lake George, NY. She also loved cruising around the world, her favorite voyage was aboard the Queen Mary II. As the family's genealogist, Betty Lou took great pleasure in tracing her family lineage, a passion that led her to travel to Ireland to learn more about her heritage. She spent much of her life reading, enjoying games of Mahjong, and adoring cats.
Most importantly, Betty loved her family. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother ("Mimi"). She enjoyed attending all of her grandchildren's activities and sporting events. They were the center of her life and her greatest joy.
Betty will be remembered for her kind nature, faith, and timeless sense of style. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
