Flemington, NJ – Betty Mikkelsen Gutowski, 91, entered eternal life on November 28, 2019 at Independence Manor in Flemington.  Betty was born to Andrew and Winnie (Lundevall) Mikkelsen and raised in Perth Amboy, NJ.

Betty graduated from Perth Amboy High School and loved literature.  She worked as a librarian in Avenel, NJ and wrote articles for her local newspaper, the Independent Leader.  Betty loved people and was part of the Welcome Wagon in Woodbridge, NJ.  As a young mother, she taught Sunday school at Avenel First Presbyterian Church.  She also enjoyed her membership in the Junior Women's Club. As her children grew to adulthood, she became interested in quilting and started classes to teach others.

Besides her parents, Betty was preceded by her brothers, Robert and Andrew (Mickey).

Betty leaves behind her dear husband, Martin Raymond Gutowski; devoted children; daughters, Judith Catenacci and Betsy Mansueto and son, Martin Gutowski.  She also leaves behind 7 adored grandchildren, Nick, Jeff, Luke, Christiana, Marisa, Alissa, and Jake; and 2 great grandchildren, Calla and Mackenzie.

At the family's request, disposition will be private.
