Neshanic Station, NJ—Bogdan "George" Burghard, 75, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at Hunterdon Medical Center in Flemington, NJ, surrounded by loving family. Born in Halifax, England, son of the late Stanley and Alfreda (nee Perlinska) Burghard, he immigrated in 1956 to the United States settling in the Lower East Side of Manhattan, NY. After marriage he moved to Belleville, NJ, and Morristown, NJ before settling in Neshanic Station in 1985.

George honorably served his country with the United States Airforce from 1968 -1972 during the Vietnam War. He attained the ranking of Sergeant and served both stateside in Massachusetts and abroad in Okinawa, Japan. Upon completing his military service, George returned to college to earn his B.S. in Business Administration from American International College. As he began his career, George worked for many major international engineering companies, notably in the nuclear power and petrochemical industries.  In 1985, he ultimately founded and operated his own construction management and consulting firm, which brought him much satisfaction. The whole process of planning, developing and building various projects were both challenging and rewarding.

George was always a history buff and was well versed and knowledgeable in all topics, but most particularly he enjoyed the sciences and history. If he thought differently then you, he would never shy away from a debate. He enjoyed conversations and debates with family, especially with his grandson, Benjamin. George was a parishioner of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church in Three Bridges, NJ. In his younger years, George was an outstanding accordionist receiving numerous accolades for his performances. He also excelled as a track star during his LaSalle High School years. In his younger years, he enjoyed building model airplanes, sketching portraits, and photography.

George leaves behind his beloved wife of 50 years, Lucyna E. "Lucy" (nee Zyta) Burghard; loving daughter, Caroline and her husband, Karl Erikson of Hillsborough, NJ; dear sister, Christine Burghard; and dear brother, Richard Burghard and his wife, Nina. He will be deeply missed by his precious grandchildren, Benjamin, Henry, and Lucy; several cherished nieces and nephews; a cousin and other extended family and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a viewing at Countryside Funeral Home, 724 Route 202 North, Three Bridges, NJ 08887 on Saturday, May 18, from 2-6 p.m. and on Monday, May 20, from 9:30-10:15 a.m. Funeral services will begin on Monday, May 20, with transfer prayers at 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home followed by an 11:00 a.m. funeral mass at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church in Three Bridges with Fr. Thomas J. Serafin, V.F., KCHS officiating. Military honors, committal words, and entombment will follow at Our Lady of Czestochowa Cemetery's mausoleum in Doylestown, PA.
