Carlo Francis Martino, 99, passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2026. His life was distinguished by his deep love and commitment to his wife and family and dedication to his career and community. Carlo had a warm smile, teasing sense of humor, and furrowed brow that marked the worries and misfortunes that sometimes challenged his life. Born and raised in Brockway, PA to the late Carlo and Antonina Martino, Carlo grew up in an Italian American family embedded in his father’s successful Brockway Macaroni & Supply Company and the Catholic Church. Tragedy struck Carlo’s life at age 10 when his father died in a car accident, accelerating his childhood to manhood as the oldest sibling helping his mother and younger brother navigate life without a father. 

After graduating high school, Carlo enlisted in the Navy during World War II, where he served as an Electronics Technician and then honorably discharged in 1946 when the war ended. He then completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering cum laude in 1948 with support of the Veteran Affairs GI Bill and spent the next 48 years working primarily in Plastics Research and Development Laboratories of Union Carbide. Smart, capable, and steadfast, Carlo largely served as a Senior Group Manager for different product development groups and ultimately was duly recognized for his contributions by becoming the Associate Director of Research and Development for all molding, pipe and extrusion polyethylene products. He retired in 1996. 

More than his career accomplishments, Carlo was devoted to his wife, Marian Martino, who predeceased him in 2024. Their 72-year marriage embodied love, respect, and commitment to their family. Risk averse, Carlo opted for safety, security, and generous support of his immediate and extended family to ensure they lived comfortably and with accomplishment. He resided in his Branchburg home for 71 years where he lived until his passing. Carlo is survived by his loving children and partners, Carl and Wilma, Mark and Jill, Steve and Veerle, and Ron and Ellen, grandchildren Nick, Ellen, Annemieke, Pieter, and Rachel, great-grandchildren Carlo, Leo, Ella, Charlie, Henry, and Milo, and many nephews and nieces. The family extends gratitude to Faith Senior for her loving live-in homecare provided to Carlo during the last 3 years of his life. 

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 26 beginning 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home followed by committal words and entombment in the mausoleum chapel at Resurrection Cemetery in Piscataway, NJ.
