Obituary

Flemington, NJ—Charles "Chippy" A. Fiumefreddo, 88, entered into eternal life on Friday, August 7, 2015 at Rolling Hills care Center in Lebanon, NJ. Born in Newark, NJ, son of the late Carmen and Josephine (Degeiso) Fiumefreddo, he resided in Fanwood, NJ for thirty-eight years before settling in Flemington in 2009.


Charles honorably served his country with the United States Army during World War II as a technician 5th grade having served in the Medical Corps., as a medic. Charles was a mason with the Local 4 Masons Union in Fairfield, NJ for sixty-one years. He was also a 4 th degree knight with Knights of Columbus Father John S. Nelligan Council No. 5730 in Scotch Plains, NJ and was a member of the American Legion Post 209 in Scotch Plains, NJ. Charles loved bowling and playing both pinochle and poker with family and friends, especially those at the Flemington Fields Community Center and the Flemington Senior Center. He was an avid fan of the New York Giants and the New York Yankees; he loved watching his grandchildren play sports; and his love for cooking earned him the title "Meatball King." He was a faithful parishioner of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church in Three Bridges.



Besides his parents, Charles was predeceased by ten siblings.


Charles is survived by his loving wife of fifty-nine years, Sarah (Ricigliano) Fiumefreddo; loving children, JoAnn and her husband Dr. Patrick Collalto of Flemington and Charles Fiumefreddo and his wife Diane of St. Augustine, FL, formerly of Bridgewater, NJ. He will be deeply missed by his dear sister and brother, Nicolina Pignataro and August Fiumefreddo; and six cherished grandchildren, Lauren, Thomas and his wife Theresa, Christopher, Stephen, Grace, and Mary Kate. He was loved by many nieces, nephews and in-laws.


Relatives and friends are invited to attend a viewing at Countryside Funeral Home, 724 Route 202 North, Flemington, NJ 08822 on Monday, August 10 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. and on Tuesday, August 11 from 8:30 a.m. until 9:15 a.m.


Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 11 beginning 9:15 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a 10:00 a.m. funeral liturgy at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church, 105 Summer Road, Three Bridges, NJ 08887. Committal words, military honors, and entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Mausoleum in East Hanover, NJ. Memorial contributions may be made in Charles' name to Disabled American Veterans, 20 Washington Place, Newark, NJ 07102.
