Christine Mary
Mulligan
May 27, 1974 — Mar 28, 2022
Whitehouse Station, NJ--Christine Mary Mulligan, age 47, of Whitehouse Station, NJ passed away on Monday, March 28, 2022, leaving behind a legacy of kindness for everyone who knew her. Born on May 27, 1974 in Rochester, NY, daughter of Rachel Ann (nee Ronchetti) Mulligan and the late James Francis Mulligan, Sr., Christine was raised in Chester, NJ, graduated from West Morris Mendham High School, and went on to graduate from The College of New Jersey with a degree in Elementary Education. She spent many years living on the outskirts of Morristown, NJ, but would eventually settle in her beloved home in Whitehouse Station.
Beginning in 1997, Christine began her career as a 4th grade teacher in the Harding Township School District. Almost 25 years of students have passed through the doors of Miss Mulligan's classroom, and she dedicated her life to teaching her students. Christine's teaching went far beyond academics because what she wanted most was for her students to learn the importance of treating everyone with kindness and respect. From the books she read to her students to difficult conversations had as a classroom community, every decision Christine made in her classroom was made knowing that every day she had the chance to shape the future of every child who sat in her classroom.
Not only did Christine have a profound impact upon the young children at Harding Township School, but her impact was felt by the adults she came into contact with on a daily basis as well. Every young teacher who started their career at Harding Township School was lucky to have the mentorship and guidance of such an outstanding educator. Parents were lucky to know that Christine was there to support their children and their families. And her teacher friends were lucky enough to feel the warmth of Christine's smile and the comfort of her advice about anything and everything. She enjoyed traveling with friends, with trips over the last several years to Portugal, Croatia and the California wine country. When she was not planning and dreaming of her own travels, she was experiencing adventures through the books she so loved to read.
No one has felt the power and impact of Christine more than her immediate family. She is survived by her loving mother, Rachel Mulligan, her dear brothers, Gerard Mulligan and his wife, Kim, and Jamie Mulligan and his wife, Candy. Christine was predeceased by her beloved sister, Helen Mulligan. Christine leaves behind her cherished nieces and nephews, Bryan, Ryan, Lauren, Sarah, and Amanda, all who loved her as an aunt, but also as a friend who was always there to listen. Christine will also be terribly missed by her four-legged family members, Clarence, Addy and Stanley, all who know she will be waiting for them with some treat that they are typically not allowed to have. As a daughter, a sister, and an aunt, Christine has spent much of her life putting her family before herself because she had the kind of heart that always put others first. Christine loved spending time with her family. Whether it was in a cabin in the Adirondacks, sitting in the audience of a dance recital or sitting around the dinner table making everyone laugh, family time was important to Christine. She leaves behind an inspiration to her own family to continue to take care of one another.
