Readington Township, NJ—David MacDonald of Flemington, NJ passed away in his home on Thursday, September 16th 2010 at the age of 83, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in North Plainfield, NJ, David resided in South Plainfield for 32 years before moving to Flemington in 1983.
Along with being a loving husband and father, David was a Queen City Pigeon Club member and enjoyed racing pigeons. David was also an avid Notre Dame fan and watched every game. He retired as a public service chief lineman with PSE&G in Elizabeth.
David was an active parishioner of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church in Three Bridges, NJ.
David was predeceased by his son David T. MacDonald, Jr. in 1982.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 60 years, Dorothy (Murray) MacDonald; one loving daughter, Dorothy Reynolds and Pete Mendez of Dunellen; four sons: James and Peni Burke of Valrico, FL, Robert MacDonald of South Plainfield, Bert and Kathy MacDonald of Budd Lake, Danny MacDonald and Cathy Eggert of South Plainfield. He is also survived by his sister Dorothy "Marie" Carlomagno of South Plainfield and he was the adored grandfather "Pop Pop" of ten grandchildren: Stephie & Frankie; Kari Ann & Ryan; Andrea, David & Shelly; Stacy, Andrew & Kevin and four great grandchildren: Anthony & Rylea; Kavin & Frankie.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation at Countryside Funeral Home, 724 Route 202 North, Three Bridges, NJ 08887 on Monday, September 20th from 3-7 p.m. and on Tuesday, September 21st from 9:45-10:15 a.m.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 21st beginning 10:15 a.m. from the funeral home, followed by an 11:00 a.m. funeral liturgy at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church, 105 Summer Road, Three Bridges, NJ 08887. The interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Scotch Plains. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Hunterdon Hospice, 2100 Wescott Drive, Flemington, NJ 08822.
