Flemington, NJ - Derrick Houghton (95) left this world returning to his eternal home on July 4, 2021 with loving daughter Cathrine and family by his side. Derrick was born in 1926 to the late Frederick and Claire Houghton in Darwen, England. In 1964 Derrick and his family immigrated to the United States, eventually settling in New Jersey.

In addition to Derrick's parents, he is predeceased by his beloved wife Rosemary of 67 years in 2018; and his five siblings Ronald, Stella, Frank, Stanley and Wilfred.

Derrick is survived by his loyal and devoted children, Cathrine Monson, and David Houghton and wife Maria Rita; as well as his loving grandson, Justin and wife Megan. Derrick will be dearly missed by many nieces, nephews and friends.

Derrick was a veteran of WWII after volunteering and proudly serving at the rank of corporal in Britain's King's army as a military courier assigned to India.  This period of his life generated tremendous pride and became the source of many storytelling sessions throughout his life.

Prior to Derrick's retirement he enjoyed a very successful and long term sales management career with Dupont Pharmaceuticals.

Relatives and Friends will be invited to attend a short memorial service on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 beginning at 11 a.m., at Somerset Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum, 95 Mt. Airy Rd, Basking Ridge NJ 07920.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Derrick's name to Hunterdon Hospice 2100 Wescott Drive, Flemington NJ 08822.
