Despina S. (Petrakis) Coutsouridis, 82, entered into eternal life on Sunday, February 28, 2010 at the Somerset Medical Center in Somerville surrounded by her loving family. Born in Tanta, Egypt, daughter of the late Yakovos and Elleni (Lavdas) Petrakis, she had resided in Redwood City, CA before settling to the Three Bridges section of Readington Township six years ago.



While residing in California, Despina retired as a seamstress and designer from A Sommer Textiles in San Carlos, CA and was a member of Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church in Belmont, CA. Once settling in New Jersey, she attended St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Piscataway. Some of her favorite pastimes included knitting, cooking, crafts and needlepoint. She also enjoyed traveling and gardening always sharing the fruits of her labor with others.

Besides her parents, Despina was predeceased by her beloved husband Stavros John Coutsouridis on April 26, 2004.

Despina leaves behind her loving and devoted son and daughter-in-law: John and Catherine Denise Coutsouridis with whom she resided and her cherished granddaughter Alexia.


Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 6, 2010 beginning 9:45 a.m. at Countryside Funeral Home, 724 Route 202 North, Three Bridges, NJ 08887 followed by an 11:00 a.m. funeral liturgy at St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Piscataway. Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation at the funeral home on Thursday, March 4, 2010 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. and on Saturday, March 6, 2010 from 9:15am until service time. Committal words and interment will take place at Ss. Peter & Paul Orthodox Cemetery in Hillsborough. At the family's request there are no services or visitation on Friday.
