Whitehouse Station NJ– Donald Francis Jensen, 78, passed away on Sunday, November 4, 2018 at home with his loving family at his side. Donald was born and raised in Staten Island, NY to the late Winfield and Frances (Knipple) Jensen. After marriage he resided in Middletown, NJ before settling to Readington Township in 1976.
Donald attended Curtis High School in Staten Island, graduated from Wagner College with an undergraduate degree in education, earning his master's degree in education in 19 65 . Donald retired from the New York City Board of Education as an administrator after many years of dedicated service. He met the love of his life, Edna, with whom he joined hands in marri age on July 7, 1962. In his younger years he was an outstanding athlet e , playing both high school and college football . He enjoyed working with kids, coaching both football and baseball and had a passion for boating as an accomplished sailor. Donald was a talented craftsman, working multiple jobs in construction during his summer breaks and renovating his 275 year old farmhouse and barns himself. He was a Gentleman Farmer raising various livestock and pets over the course of the past 40 years. Donald was a member of Readington Reformed Church. Donald is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Edna (Detmar) Jensen; four loving children, Jennifer and her husband Ernie Vespole of Delaware Twp., Richard Jensen and his wife Heidi of Ringoes, Andrew Jensen and his wife Renee of Kingwood and Douglas Jensen and his wife Corisa of Readington and brother Jerome Jensen. He will be deeply missed by his 12 cherished grandchildren, Nicholas, Andrew, Markus, Makenzie, Emily, Anika, Elizabeth, Marissa, Anne Marie, Christian, Madelynn and Natalie. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at Countryside Funeral Home, 724 Route 202 North, Three Bridges, NJ 08887 on Saturday, November 10 from 1 to 4 p.m.
