Donald J. Stevenson Sr.
Retired Telephone & Bank Executive
Washington, NJ – Donald J. Stevenson Sr., entered into eternal rest on Thursday, August 11, 2005 at St. Peter's Medical Center in New Brunswick. Born in Newark, NJ to his late parents Peter & Julia (Mealady) Stevenson, he had lived in Plainfield, moving to Piscataway where he lived for 42 years, settling in Washington, NJ two years ago.
Don was honorably discharged from the United States Army having faithfully served his country during the Korean Conflict. In 1984, Don retired as an Executive from N.J Bell Telephone Co. in Newark and then joined Howard Savings Bank in Livingston as Chief Operating Officer.
In Don's spare time, he enjoyed reading and had a passion for golf. He was very interested in History and loved sharing many special moments with his cherished family.
He is predeceased by his beloved wife Carol (Strauss) Stevenson who passed away in 1999.
He is survived by his five loving and devoted sons; David Fenning of Glen Ridge, NJ, Peter Stevenson of Fairfax, VA, Donald J. Stevenson Jr. of Readington Twsp., Chris Stevenson of Manhattan, NY and Michael Stevenson of Shrewsbury, NJ. He will be dearly missed by his adored 11 grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, August 16, 2005 beginning 9:15am at the Countryside Funeral Home, 724 Route 202 North, Three Bridges, NJ 08887 followed by a 10:00am funeral liturgy at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church in Three Bridges. Don will be entombed in the Mausoleum at Resurrection Cemetery in Piscataway. Relatives and friends may attend calling hours at the funeral home on Sunday, August 14, 2005 and Monday, August 15, 2005 from 2-4 & 7-9pm and on Tuesday from 8:45am until service time.
