Ringoes, NJ—Donald A. Van Alstyne, Sr.,88, entered into eternal life on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at Hunterdon Medical Center with his loving family by his side.  Born in Staten Island, NY, son of the late Bernard and Alice Nutter, he resided in Tewksbury Township, NJ, before settling in Ringoes in 1969.

Donald was a former Golden Glove boxer, played semi-pro football, and was Senior Project Engineer at Procter & Gamble, Port Ivory, Staten Island, NY, where he worked for 52 years.  A skilled craftsman, Donald built all 5 of his family homes throughout Hunterdon County, NJ.  He loved snowmobiling, hunting, boating, fishing and his family.

Besides his parents, Donald was predeceased by his beloved wife of 69 years, Gloria Mae (Gow) Van Alstyne, and by a grandson, Donald A. Van Alstyne, III.

Donald is survived by his three loving children, Donald A. Van Alstyne, Jr. and his wife Joann of Liverpool, PA; Susan Rosser of Dallas, GA, and Valerie Cerny and her husband Steven of Sandyston, NJ; his sister-in-law Carol Jones; six cherished grandchildren, Kimberly Klein, Lauren Van Alstyne, Avery Rosser, Darlene Corbin, Nathaniel Rosser and Mecca Cerny; 6 precious great-grandchildren, Alaina, Carlos, William, Cameron, Makenzie and Kennedy; his dear friend, Fatima Birardi and her children, Vanessa, Victor, Veronica, and Valerie; and his dear caregiver of many years, Brenda Hillsinger.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a viewing at Countryside Funeral Home, Route 202 North, Three Bridges, NJ 08887, on Wednesday, March 28 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, March 29 beginning at 11 a.m.  Committal words and disposition will follow at Stillwater Cemetery in Stillwater, NJ.  Memorial contributions may be made in Donald's name to The ALS Association, Gift Processing Center, PO Box 6051, Alberta Lea, MN 56007 or also.org/donate.
