Obituary

Earl T. Knobloch of Readington Township, NJ died at the age of 87 at the Morristown Memorial Hospital on December 29th. He was born in Utica, NY on May 11, 1922 to George A. Knobloch and Anna Troquet Knobloch and graduated from the Sacred Heart Elementary School, Utica Free Academy, and Syracuse University with a BFA in Art Education; MA in Education; and EDD in Audiovisual Communications. He was employed in the Whitesboro School System; the North Syracuse School System as an elementary school principal in New York State; the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland; and the Raritan Community College in NJ. Retiring in 1988, he was actively involved in woodworking, building model airplanes, and was a daily jogger for over 30 years.

He was employed as a flight instructor before the outbreak of WWII. He served in the African-Indian Theatre from 1942 to 1945 as a pilot in the Air Transport Command and was discharged with the rank of captain.

Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Josephine Knobloch; his daughter Karen Marchese and son-in-law, Vincent Marchese from Morris Plains, NJ; his granddaughter Shayna Marchese from Astoria, Queens; and Adria Marchese from Morris Plains. He is survived by one living brother, Robert Knobloch and his wife Marie from Livingston; sisters Marian Sears and Margaret Tidenberg and brothers George, Paul, Russell, and Donald predeceased him.

Earl is a member of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton. Visiting hours are 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Countryside Funeral Home, 724 Route 202 North, Three Bridges, NJ 08887 followed by a funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton on December 31, 2009. Interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in West Winfield, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Building Fund, 105 Summer Road, Three Bridges, NJ 08887-2307.
