Hillsborough, NJ–Eileen P. (Popko) Schroeder, 92, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 24, 2009 at her residence with her loving family by her side. Born in Newark, NJ to Theodore and Anna (Csuray) Popko, she was a resident of Springfield, Mountainside, and Palm Beach, FL prior to settling to Hillsborough in 1986.


Eileen was a homemaker who took great pride in caring for her family. She attended services at Mary, Mother of God Roman Catholic Church in Hillsborough, was a member of the Mountainside Women's Club, enjoyed painting, embroidering, crocheting and was an avid reader.


Besides her parents, Eileen was predeceased by her dear siblings: William Popko, John Popko, Stephen Popko, and Mary Connors.



Eileen leaves behind her loving and devoted husband of 73 years, John Schroeder with whom she joined hands in marriage with on March 17, 1936. She will be deeply missed by her loving daughter Marilyn S. Leone of Hillsborough, her two cherished grandchildren, Mark Leone and Michelle Leone, both of Hillsborough, and many adored nieces and nephews.



Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 27, 2009 beginning 9:15 a.m. at Countryside Funeral Home, 724 Route 202 North, Three Bridges, NJ 08887 followed by a 10:00 a.m. funeral liturgy at Mary, Mother of God Roman Catholic Church in Hillsborough. Eileen will be entombed at Gate of Heaven Mausoleum in East Hanover. Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation at the funeral home on Sunday, July 26, 2009 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. and on Monday, July 27, 2009 from 8:45 a.m. until service time.
