Annandale, NJ – Eleanor (Boyland) Connell died on Tuesday, October 23, 2007 at her residence with her loving family by her side. Born in Ridgley, West Virginia to her late parents Thomas and Nellie (Flanagan) Boyland, she has been a resident of Annandale for the past 63 years.
Eleanor was a leading dance educator in Hunterdon County for 59 years. She and her husband, Jack, who died in 1981, founded the Eleanor Connell School of Dance in Annandale which they started 1949 and it is still presently operated by her family. She was a faithful communicant of Immaculate Conception Church in Annandale. She was a National faculty member of the National Association of Dance and Affiliated Artists and a member of both Dance Educators of America and Dance Masters of America. Eleanor was a member of North Hunterdon Clinton Kiwanis, Soroptomists International and Flemington Woman's Club. She was also a volunteer for many years at the Hunterdon Medical Center.
Eleanor is survived by her loving children; Mimi Connell of Clinton and Karen Connell of Bethlehem, PA; a dear brother Captain William T. Boyland of El Cerrito, CA. She also leaves behind her four grandchildren; April and husband Bronson Woodhull, Kirsten and husband Peter Sham, David Olsher and Sharon Olsher. She will be sadly missed by her great-grandchildren; Shawn, Nicholas and Shelby Woodhull and Olivia and Orlando Sham.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 27, 2007 beginning 9:00am at Countryside Funeral Home, 724 Route 202 North, Three Bridges, NJ 08887 followed by a 10:00am funeral liturgy at Immaculate Conception in Clinton with Father Chris officiating. Eleanor will be laid to rest beside her husband Jack in the family plot at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Clinton. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the calling hours at the funeral home on Thursday, October 25, 2007 from 7-9pm and on Friday, October 26, 2007 from 2-4 & 7-9pm and on Saturday from 8:30am until service time.
