Flemington, NJ- Elizabeth "Betty" Benner, 90, entered into eternal life on Sunday, January 19, 2014 at her residence in Flemington with caring family by her side. Born in Hanover, PA, daughter of the late James and Ann Jones (Griffith) Evans, she grew up in Nanticoke, PA and had resided in Newark prior to settling to Bridgewater in 1953, where she and her husband built their home. She then spent time at Briteside Adult Day Center in Flemington and had resided the last year and a half with her niece in Flemington.



Betty was a homemaker who loved sewing, cooking, baking, and gardening. She was fond of animals, especially cats and dogs.



Besides her parents, Betty was predeceased by her beloved husband, Bertram F. Benner in 1997 and five dear siblings.



Betty is survived by two loving nephews and a niece, Thomas Evans, Jr. and his wife Lucy of Sunbury, PA, Robert Evans of Shamokin Dam, PA, and Nancy and her husband Alvaro Vargas of Flemington. She will be deeply missed by seven cherished great nieces and nephews and three adored great-great nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation at Countryside Funeral Home, 724 Route 202 North, Three Bridges, NJ 08887 on Tuesday, January 21 from 2-6 p.m. and on Wednesday, January 22 from 10-11 a.m.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 22 beginning 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with family and friends celebrating Betty's life. Committal words and interment will follow at Restland Memorial Park in East Hanover. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Betty's name to the Center For Educational Advancement, 11 Minneakoning Road, Flemington, NJ 08822.
