Obituary

Flemington, NJ – Francis M. McAloon, 88, entered into eternal life on Monday, June 19, 2023 at Hunterdon Medical Center in Flemington with loving family by his side.  Born and raised in Staten Island, NY, son of the late Frank and Dorothy (nee Appel) McAloon, he lived for a few years in Oswego, NY, and then resided in Branchburg, NJ from 1971-1986, until settling to Flemington for the remainder of his life.

Francis faithfully served his country with the United States Navy from 1953-1961.  He was a parishioner of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church in Three Bridges, NJ.  Francis worked in construction his entire life.  As project manager, he took pride in creating many new office buildings, several mall expansions, added a smelting line for aluminum in Oswego, NY and upgraded a rail line in Philadelphia.  Francis enjoyed traveling.  As snowbirds, he and his wife would often travel down to New Smyrna Beach, Florida for the winter months.  Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania was their year-round getaway.   Francis' favorite pastime was time spent with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Francis is survived by his beloved wife of sixty-six years, Joan M. (nee Harson) McAloon with whom he joined hands in marriage on December 1, 1956; four loving children, Kevin McAloon and his wife Mary of Rockaway, NJ, Karen and her husband Stephen Bodnar of Flemington, Ken McAloon and his wife Karen of Flemington, and Kris McAloon and his wife Laryssa of Rock Spring, GA; dear brother, Richard McAloon; dear sister, Dorothy Marshall; twelve cherished grandchildren, Patrick, Michael, Stephen, Caitlin, Brian, Trevor, Ashley, Kristian, Dariana, Matthew, Zachary, and Tyler; six adored great grandchildren, Finnley, Rowan, Maxwell, Memphis, Caden, and John; and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a viewing at Countryside Funeral Home, 724 Route 202 North, Three Bridges, NJ 08887 on Wednesday, June 21, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. and on Thursday, June 22 from 8:30-9:00 a.m.  Funeral services will begin on Thursday, June 22, at 9:00 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a 9:45 a.m. funeral mass at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church in Three Bridges with Fr. Thomas J. Serafin, KCHS officiating.  Entombment will follow at St. Magdalen Cemetery & Mausoleum in Flemington.
