Frank "Rick"
Nowrick
Mar 10, 1931 — Apr 22, 2026
Flemington
Frank Allen "Rick" Nowrick passed away peacefully at his home in Flemington on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, with his family by his side. He was born and raised in Jersey City, New Jersey, and was the son of the late Harry Clement and Clara Patricia (née Macalino) Nowrick. He had many friends who knew him as Rick, and those closest and dearest to him fondly called him Uncle Frank.
Rick was a graduate of Dickinson High School in Jersey City. He served in the United States Coast Guard during the Korean War and in 1954, he married the love of his life, Theresa (Terry) Fabbri. They settled and together built their home in Flemington, an area he knew and grew to love from hunting trips with his father earlier in his life. There they raised their family, and for 70+ years Rick took tremendous pride in, and meticulous care of their family home and property.
Rick loved the outdoors, and fishing and hunting with his brother Harry was a favourite pursuit. They would take party boats out of Point Pleasant to fish off-shore and enjoyed fishing from the seawall at Manasquan Inlet at Point Pleasant. They became part of a jovial group of sea wall fishermen and spent many happy days together chatting and catching seaweed, if not fish.
On land, Rick had a huge passion for woodworking and for many years had a small home handyman business. Many homes in the area have decks that are his handiwork, and remodeled indoor spaces he created. Rich had a passion for sharing his woodworking skills and teaching others, and particularly enjoyed working with local boy and girl scout troops to pass on his skills to them. Many homes still enjoy flag planters, Charlie Brown Christmas trees and tool boxes and bird houses that were the product of Rick's workshops with the youngsters.
Rick was predeceased by his beloved wife Terry, his daughter Laurie Opdyke, and is survived by his daughters Gwen Nowrick and Donna Pregeant, their husbands Jeffrey Hedgecock and Charles Pregeant, son-in-law, Bruce Opdyke; and his best buddy who was like a son to him, Vito Marinelli. He is also survived by and will be missed by nieces Claire and Nadine, granddaughters Nichole Eveland and Victoria Kirk; and great granddaughters, Mackenzie Eveland and Rory Kirk.
A celebration of Rick's life will be held the afternoon of Sunday, June 14th on the deck at Rick's home where he so loved to spend time enjoying the company of his family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Jude's in memory of Rick. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Countryside Funeral Home, 724 US-202, PO Box 431, Three Bridges, NJ 08887.
