Loving Husband, Father & Grandfather

Flemington NJ– George Charles Lazar, 83, entered eternal life on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at Hunterdon Medical Center in Flemington with loving family by his side. Born in Jersey City, NJ, son of the late Michael and Elizabeth (Mateleskal) Lazar, he grew up in Jersey City prior to settling in Flemington two years ago.

George had retired in 1992 from Ryerson Steel in Jersey City after 35 years of dedicated service. He faithfully served his country during the Korean War as an Airman Second Class with the United States Air Force. George was a faithful communicant of St. Magdalen de Pazzi Roman Catholic Church in Flemington and loved spending time at the Jersey shore.

Besides his parents, George was predeceased by brothers John and Andrew and sisters Mary, Anna and Barbara.

George leaves behind his loving and devoted wife of forty-eight years, Elizabeth (Woods) Lazar with whom he joined hands in marriage on May 15, 1966. He will be deeply missed by his loving daughter Lauren Kirschner and husband Albert of Flemington and his three cherished grandchildren; Christopher George, Matthew Gordon and Rebecca Elizabeth.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation at Countryside Funeral Home, 724 Route 202 North, Three Bridges, NJ 08887 on Thursday, May 1 from 4-8 p.m. and on Friday, May 2, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:0 a.m.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 2 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a 10:30 a.m. funeral liturgy at St. Magdalen de Pazzi Roman Catholic Church in Flemington with Fr. Joseph Kabali officiating. Committal words and interment will follow at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery, 14 Chesterfield Arneytown Road, Wrightstown, NJ 08562.
