Obituary

Flemington, NJ—George C. Risko, 83, of Flemington, NJ passed away on May 16, 2022 at Morristown Medical Center.

He was born May 6, 1939 to Peter and Stella Risko in Elizabeth, NJ.  He grew up in Linden, NJ and graduated Linden High School.  In 1963, George married Marie Picone and they had three children, Christopher of Flemington, NJ, Lori and husband David Wood of Doylestown, PA, and Lisa and husband Shawn Beerman of Flemington, NJ., grandchildren, Michael, Joseph and Anthony Risko, Brianna and Chandler Wood, and Ava Beerman.

George served in the United States Army from March 1963 to March 1969.  He was stationed at West Point, NY and later transferred to Fort Ord, Seaside, CA.  After his time in the military, George started his own construction company building custom homes.  He joined the NJ carpenters union and also taught carpentry at the vocation school.  He retired in 2004.

George loved spending time with his family. He spent many years coaching his children's baseball teams. He enjoyed going to the beach, fishing and spending time with his family at his shore home in Seaside Park, NJ. He was known to be a quiet man that was kind-hearted and loved by all.

He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren and brother, Richard Risko and wife Dee.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation at Countryside Funeral Home, 724 Route 202 North, Three Bridges, 08887 on Sunday, May 22, 2022 from 4-7 p.m. and on Monday, May 23, from 8:30 a.m. – 9:15a.m.. Funeral Services will take place on Monday, May 23 beginning at 9:15 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a 10:00 a.m. funeral mass at St. Magdalen de Pazzi Roman Catholic Church, 105 Mine Street, Flemington, NJ, 08822.  Committal words and entombment will follow at Immaculate Conception Mausoleum, 316 Old Allerton Rd, Annandale, NJ.
