Obituary

Flemington, NJ- George Howard Vreeland, 62, entered into eternal life on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at Hunterdon Medical Center in Flemington, NJ.  Born in Somerville, NJ, son of the late John R. and Mary Jane (nee Beaton) Vreeland, Sr., he grew up in the Bradley Gardens section of Bridgewate r, NJ and several other towns in New Jersey before settling to Flemington in 1994.
George was a graduate of Bound Brook High School in Bound Brook, NJ.  He was a carpenter by trade.  He spent much of his working career excavating, hauling rock and stone, building and engineering bridges, and surveying grades for our highway systems.  After his earlier work experience he became founder and owner of G&D Contracting, Inc. of Flemington.  George was a member of IUOE Local 825 Operating Engineers.  He loved motorcycles especially his Harley Davidsons.  He enjoyed traveling and spending quality time with his wife and canine friends.
Besides his parents, George was predeceased by three brothers, John R. Vreeland, Jr., James "Jimmy" Vreeland, and Rodney Vreeland; mother-in-law, Katherine Wagner; and nephew, Lawrence D. Wagner.
George is survived by his loving wife, Diane (nee Wagner) Vreeland with whom he has shared many years of marriage; dear brother, David E. Vreeland and his wife Tanya; cherished nieces and nephews, Jennifer, Prudence, Christopher, Karl, Zebbelin, Alexandria, AJ, Carlos, Elizabeth, and (Lisa); sisters-in-law, Patricia Carlin-Wilkens, Bernadette Markham, Karen Wagner-Roush, and Janet Wagner; brother-in-law, Lawrence D. Wagner; and father-in-law Leonard D. Wagner.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a viewing at Countryside Funeral Home, 724 Route 202 North, Three Bridges, NJ 08887 on Friday, June 4 from 5-8 p.m. and on Saturday, June 5 from 10-11 a.m.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 5 beginning 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home followed by committal words and interment at New Cemetery in Somerville.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in George's name, and would be gratefully appreciated, directly to the family to help offset funeral expenses.  To send condolences to the family, light a candle, or sign an online guest book, please visit www.CountrysideFuneralHome.com .
