READINGTON TWP., NJ -- Gloria (Boylan) Lobb passed away on Sunday, February 13, 2011 at Rolling Hills Care Center, Clinton Township, following a lengthy illness. She was 83.

Born on March 1, 1927, and raised in Plainfield, N.J., Gloria was a resident of Readington Township since 1965. A distinguished pianist, she was a 1945 graduate of Plainfield High School and a 1949 graduate of the prestigious Conservatory of Music of Oberlin College, Oberlin, Ohio.

Gloria was a church and performance musician for most of her life, beginning at age 14 for USO functions and local churches in New Jersey and continuing for 40 years at Stanton Reformed Church, Readington, where she served mainly as the summer services pianist. A homemaker, Gloria also gave private piano lessons to young students for many years. Gloria was a lifelong baseball fan and avid bridge player.

Gloria was the daughter of the late Jesse Thomas Boylan and Grace LeMatty Boylan. She was predeceased by a brother, Murville, in 2001. Gloria's survivors include her loving husband of 57 years, William E. Lobb, of Readington; two sons, the Rev. Kenneth H. of Bethlehem, Pa., and Welles B. of Allentown, Pa.; two daughters, Sally Miller of Lewisburg, Pa., and Nancy Gulyas of Readington; and four grandchildren, Maggie Ann, Jesse and Jennie Miller, and Sara Gulyas.

Calling hours are Thursday, February 17, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Countryside Funeral Home, 724 Route 202 North, Three Bridges, NJ 08887. A family-only graveside service is scheduled for noon on Friday, Feb. 18, at Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains. A memorial service at Stanton Reformed Church, 1 Stanton Mountain Road, Stanton, NJ 08885 will be held on Saturday, March 5 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hunterdon Hospice, 2100 Wescott Drive, Flemington, NJ 08822.
