Howard Drake's Obituary
Three Bridges, NJ—Howard Drake died peacefully at home on May 8, 2010. He was born in Trenton, NJ, and graduated from Trenton Central High School. He attended Rider College, and Rutgers University, and graduated from Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers University.
He was disabled with Multiple Sclerosis since 1993, and fought this disease daily with faith, courage, and a positive attitude
He was an active communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Three Bridges, NJ, until he no longer could attend church due to his disability.
He served in the Army Reserve for six years, receiving an honorable discharge with the rank of Staff Sergeant. He served as President of the Flemington Rotary Club, was a member of the Board of Directors for the United Way of Hunterdon County, a member of the Board of Directors for the Hunterdon County Boy Scout Council, and was Treasurer of Watchung Area Boy Scout Council, Chairman of the Commercial Lending Committee-Community Bankers Association.
He was employed in the commercial banking field for 34 years. He began his career in the Trenton Banking Co., Trenton, NJ. He was employed by First National Bank of Central Jersey for twenty-two years and completed his career in 1991 when he served as Sr. Vice President of Commercial Lending at Flemington National Bank and Trust Company, Flemington, NJ.
His survivors include his loving wife, Joan, his children, James H. Drake of Hood River, OR, Susan E. Drake of Allamuchy Township, NJ, Kathleen M. Szur of Naperville, IL, and Kevin W. Szur of Phillipsburg, NJ.
Viewing will be held at Countryside Funeral Home, 724 Route 202 North, Three Bridges, NJ 08887 on Tuesday, May 11, 2010 from 2:00-4:00 P.M. and 7:00-9:00 P.M.
The Mass of Resurrection will be held on Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 105 Summer Road, Three Bridges, NJ.
Interment will be at St. Magdalen's Cemetery in Flemington, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 105 Summer Road, Three Bridges, NJ 088887.
