Lewes, DE – Irene Sarah (nee Haddigan) Horvat, 69, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at ChristianaCare Christiana Hospital in Newark, DE, with loving family by her side. Born in Hollis Queens, NY, daughter of the late William David and Anne (nee Pati) Haddigan, she was raised in Elmont, NY, lived in Stony Brook, NY, and Flemington, before settling to Lewes after retirement in 2012.
Irene was a graduate of Elmont Memorial High School in Elmont with the Class of 1973. She had many years of dedicated employment with Novadel Pharmaceutical in Flemington, NJ as an assistant to the CEO. Irene then went on to work for HCD Research in Flemington as an administrator, before retirement. Irene enjoyed horseback riding. Her artistic talents fueled a passion for drawing, painting, and fashion design.
Besides her parents, Irene was predeceased by her brother, William David Haddigan, III.
Irene is survived by her beloved husband of 46 years, Lawrence Michael Horvat with whom she joined hands in Holy Matrimony on April 22, 1978; two loving children, Kimberly and her husband, Chris Zupko of Flemington and Michael Horvat and his wife, Christie of Flemington; dear sister-in-law, Joanne Haddigan; dear sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Joseph Kuenzig; two adored grandchildren, Evan Zupko and Martin Horvat; adored niece and Goddaughter, Christine Haddigan; and cherished nephews, William D. Haddigan, IV, Scott Mott, Timothy Kuenzig, Glenn Kuenzig, and Gregory Kuenzig and their families.
Family and friends are invited to attend a viewing at Countryside Funeral Home, 724 Route 202 North, Three Bridges, NJ 08887 on Monday, March 3, from 1-3 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. and on Tuesday, March 4, from 8:45-9:15 a.m. Funeral services will begin at the funeral home with transfer prayers on Tuesday, March 4 at 9:15 a.m. followed by a 10:00 a.m. funeral mass at St. Magdalen de Pazzi Roman Catholic Church in Flemington. Committal words and entombment will follow at St. Magdalen Cemetery and Mausoleum in Flemington.
