Obituary

Readington Township, NJ—James "Jim" R. McFarland, 67, entered into eternal life on Friday, February 19, 2016 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ. Born in Brooklyn, NY, son of the late James W. and Stella (Karpinski) McFarland, he grew up in Westhampton Beach, NY and settled in Readington Township in 1984.

Jim faithfully served his country with the United States Army during the Vietnam War and served with the Presidential Honor Guard at the Whitehouse during Richard Nixon's terms. Jim received his bachelor's degree from the Rochester Institute of Technology, his MBA from Temple University, and his master's degree in management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he was proudly a member of the Sloan Fellows Program. He was Senior VP of Operations at AT&T in Bedminster, NJ for twenty-five years and after retiring in 2007 he became a consultant to the Senior Leadership Team at General Motors in Detroit, MI. Jim loved fishing, boating, hunting waterfowl, playing basketball and softball, and working on cars. He was a parishioner of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church in Three Bridges, NJ and was a member of the SEAS Military Ministry.

Jim is survived by his beloved wife of forty-one years, Anne C. (Monagle) McFarland; two loving sons, Matthew McFarland and his wife Jessica of Neshanic Station, NJ and Patrick McFarland of Philadelphia, PA. He will be deeply missed by his dear sister, Anne Hipp; two cherished grandsons, Liam and Ryan; and many other dear family and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation at Countryside Funeral Home, 724 Route 202 North, Three Bridges, NJ 08887 on Thursday, February 25 from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. and on Friday, February 26 from 8:00 a.m. until 8:45 a.m.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 26 beginning 8:45 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a 9:30 a.m. funeral liturgy at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church in Three Bridges. Committal words and entombment will follow at St. Magdalen Mausoleum in Flemington, NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jim's name to the SEAS Military Ministry, c/o St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 105 Summer Road, Three Bridges, NJ 08887.
