Readington Township, NJ— James "Jim" Robert Mekovetz, 65, entered eternal life on Friday, August 15, 2014 at Hunterdon Care Center in Raritan Township, with his loving family by his side. Born in Elizabeth, son of the late John and Viola (Norbut) Mekovetz, he resided in Union, prior to settling in Readington Township in 1985.

Jim was a graduate of Thomas Edison High School in Elizabeth, Class of 1967. After twenty-eight years of dedicated employment with the American Insurance Association in Rahway, Jim retired as a manager. He was also owner and president of JM Printing.

Jim was a faithful communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church in Three Bridges. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed spending time with his canine friends.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of forty-three years, Vita (Palmieri) Mekovetz. He will be deeply missed by two loving children, Alison and her husband Greg Hernandez of Branchburg and James Mekovetz, Jr. and his wife Catherine of Hoboken; dear brother, John Mekovetz of Florida; and six cherished grandchildren, Gregory, Kailee, Ava Marie, and Nicholas James Hernandez, James Mekovetz, III, and Arden Isabella Mekovetz.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation at Countryside Funeral Home, 724 Route 202 North, Three Bridges, NJ 08887 on Wednesday, August 20, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. and on Thursday, August 21, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 21, beginning at 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home followed by an 11:00 a.m. funeral liturgy at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church in Three Bridges. Committal words will follow in the chapel at Somerset Hills Memorial Park in Basking Ridge.
