Hillsborough, NJ– Jessie M. "Gesuzza" (Chiarella) Kiozpeoplou, 94, entered into eternal life on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at Brookdale Assisted Living in Hillsborough. Born in Brooklyn, NY, daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine (Donato) Chiarella, she grew up in Bloomfield, NJ and resided in New York, NY, Wantagh, Long Island, NY, Simi Valley, CA, and Branchburg, NJ before settling in Hillsborough over ten years ago.
Jessie was a homemaker who took great pride in caring and cooking for her family. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, crocheting, and handy crafts and loved to sing. She loved caring for her children and grandchildren. Jessie was a Sunday School teacher at St. Paul's Greek Orthodox Church in Hempstead, Long Island, NY; she was a parishioner of St. Gregory Palamas Orthodox Church in Annandale, NJ, St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Piscataway, NJ, and St. Anna Greek Orthodox Church in Flemington, NJ.
Besides her parents, Jessie was predeceased by her beloved husband, Ally "Eleftherios" Kiozpeoplou; two brothers, Peter Chiarella and Louis Chiarella; and a sister, also Gesuzza Chiarella.
Jessie is survived by four loving children, Diana and her husband Peter Grina of Neshanic Station, NJ, Sandra Van Horn of Boca Raton, FL, Jessica and her husband, Akym Kuzmick of Wayne, NJ, and Maria and her husband Christopher Szymborski of Hillsborough. She will be deeply missed by nine cherished grandchildren, Anthony Grina, Alexandra Grina, Gregory Van Horn, Ryan Van Horn, Christian Van Horn, Stephanie Kuzmick, Juliana Kuzmick, Sofia Szymborski, and Serena Szymborski; three adored great grandchildren, Madison Van Horn, Logan Van Horn, and Luke Van Horn; and by many dear nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a viewing at Countryside Funeral Home, 724 Route 202 North, Three Bridges, NJ 08887 on Friday, August 25 from 5-8 p.m. with a Trisagion (prayer service) at 7:00 p.m. with Fr. Anastasios Kousoulas officiating. Additional viewing time will be on Saturday, August 26 from 9:30-10:00 a.m.
Services will begin on Saturday, August 26 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a 10:45 a.m. funeral service at St. Anna Greek Orthodox Church in Flemington. Committal words and interment will follow at St. Bernard's Cemetery in Bridgewater, NJ. Memorial contributions may be made in Jessie's name to either St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to the Iconography Fund at St. Anna Greek Orthodox Church, 85 Voorhees Corner Road, Flemington, NJ 08822.
