Joan B.
O'Donnell
Dec 17, 1932 — Jan 17, 2024
Flemington
Flemington, NJ Joan B. O'Donnell, age 91 years, entered into eternal
life on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at home with loving family at
her side. Born in Merchantville, NJ, daughter of the late James F.
and Anna (nee Welsh) Barrett.
Joan graduated high school in Staten Island, NY. She met Jim, her
future husband and livelong love, while commuting to Manhattan for
Exxon on the Staten Island Ferry. Joan started her family in Staten
Island, continued in Congers, NY, and finally settled in Flemington
more than 50 years ago.
As a homemaker much of her life, Joan proudly raised three loving
children. She seemed to have a magic touch with all living things.
Her outdoor gardens flourished, carefully rooted tree twigs grew into
a small forest and tiny shrubs are now towering. Her bountiful indoor
plants and the many pets she cared for over her lifetime created a
wonderful home that was always filled with life.
Besides her parents, Joan was predeceased by her beloved husband,
James R. O'Donnell. Joan, the youngest of four, was also predeceased
by her sister, Helena Mitchell; two brothers, James Barrett and
Robert Barrett; and her son, James F. O'Donnell.
Joan is survived by two loving children, Kathleen O'Donnell and her
husband, John Rokicki of Mullica Hill, NJ, and Dan O'Donnell and his
wife Sue of Chatham, NJ; four cherished grandchildren, James Rokicki,
John Rokicki, Sean O'Donnell, and Hailey O'Donnell. Joan is also
survived by her loving nieces and nephews who brightened her days
with well wishes, especially towards the end of her life.
