Hillsborough, NJ – Johanna (Stern) Pomparelli, 46, died at home peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, July 31, 2008 after succumbing to a long courageous battle with cancer. Born in Perth Amboy to her late parents, Samuel and Jean (Lynch) Stern, she was raised and resided in Whitehouse Station before settling to Hillsborough twenty years ago.


Johanna had been employed for twelve years by Johnson & Johnson in the credit department at various locations. After her children were born, she felt fortunate to be a homemaker who was extremely meticulous about how her home was decorated and never allowed a detail to be overlooked. She always welcomed family and friends into her home and enjoyed entertaining. Her pastimes include travel, exercising, and she had a passion for music. She was a faithful communicant of Mary, Mother of God Roman Catholic Church in Hillsborough. In recent years, she worked part time in medical billing.

Surviving is her loving and devoted husband Vincent Pomparelli with whom she would have celebrated 21 years of marriage on August 29th, by her adored sons Thomas and Michael both at home, her five cherished siblings, Debra Stern of Whitehouse Station, Al Stern of Flemington, Stuart Stern of North Brunswick, Carol Aldrich of Davenport, FL and Barry Stern of Manalapan. She also leaves behind her loving nieces and nephew, Jack and Kelly Jean Duffy, Victoria Lynn and Julianna Leigh Pomparelli. Johanna will be deeply missed by her many dear friends each of whom touched her life in so many special ways.


Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 5, 2008 beginning 8:30am at Countryside Funeral Home, 724 Route 202 North, Three Bridges, NJ 08887 followed by a 9:30am funeral liturgy at Mary, Mother of God Roman Catholic Church in Hillsborough. Johanna will be entombed at St. Bernard's Mausoleum in Bridgewater. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at the funeral home on Monday, August 5, 2008 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm and on Tuesday from 8:00am until service time. Memorial contributions to the Vincent Pomparelli Trust Fund for "Thomas and Michael Pomparelli" would be deeply appreciated.
