Hillsborough, NJ- John J. Budai, Sr., 81, entered into eternal life on Monday, October 14, 2024 at Hunterdon Medical Center in Flemington. Born in Somerville, NJ, son of the late Andrew and Mary (nee Phillips) Budai, he lived most of his life in Manville, NJ, until moving to Hillsborough on December 26, 1987.
John was a carpenter foreman with Local #455 in Somerville, retiring after many years of employment. He was an avid bowler and in his younger years enjoyed fishing. John always had a project going on at home; he loved doing home improvements whether they were necessary or not; he was willing to help anyone in need of their own home improvement projects, especially friends, neighbors, and family. John built a custom car and enjoyed drag racing at the Englishtown Raceway in Englishtown, NJ.
Besides his parents, John was predeceased by two brothers, Andrew "Sunny" Budai and Michael Budai.
John is survived and will be deeply missed by his beloved wife of 60 years, Carol A. (nee Regiec) Budai, with whom he joined hands in marriage on May 9, 1964; three loving children, John J. Budai, Jr. of Mesa, AZ, Sue Kiever and her fiancé, James Fischer of Mesa, AZ, and Linda and her husband, Ron Kulakowski of Hampton, NJ; dear sister, Veronica Schauer of St. Augustine, FL; and dear sister-in-law, Linda Budai; three cherished grandchildren, Brittney, Samantha, and Rianna; and two adored great grandchildren, Aurianna and Madeline.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial visitation at Countryside Funeral Home, 724 Route 202 North, Three Bridges, NJ 08887 on Friday, October 18, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. with a memorial service at 8:15 p.m. Private inurnment will take place at Neshanic Cemetery in Hillsborough. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in John's name to a charity of your choice.
