Pittstown, NJ – John "Jack" Noordzy, 81, entered into eternal life on Saturday, July 19, 2008 at the Hunterdon Medical Center in Raritan Township. Born in West Brighton, Staten Island, NY to his late parents John W. and Margaret (Wilkinson) Noordzy, he resided in Annadale, Westerleigh, and Lighthouse Hill sections of Staten Island for many years before settling to Pittstown, NJ, 20 years ago.

Jack was honorably discharged from the United States Navy after faithfully serving his country as a Naval Seabee with the 115th Construction Battalion during World War II. He later became a member of the 159th American Legion Post in Flemington, NJ.

While residing in Staten Island, he was a member of Operating Engineers Local 15, having been employed by the City of New York, Department of Sanitation as a crane operator for 31 years, retiring in 1986. Jack loved to own operated all types of heavy machinery from bulldozers to backhoes and beyond. In 1963, he worked as a "side boom" crane operator while erecting the Verrazanno-Narrows Bridge.

He was a former member of Castleton Hill Moravian Church, Castleton Corners. Jack also enjoyed bowling and was a member several leagues, including Sunset Lanes, New Springville, Bowling on the Green in New Dorp and Victory Lanes, Castleton Corners.

Jack leaves behind his beloved wife Helen (Kempe) Noordzy, his loving and devoted daughter and son-in-law Kathleen and John Farmer and grandson Robert Farmer. He will be deeply missed by all of his family who loved him dearly and those who he touched with his generosity and kindness. His granddaughter Jacqueline Farmer, died in 1997.
