Obituary

Readington Township, NJ – John B. Renner Sr., 60, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, August 3, 2006 at his residence surrounded by his loving and supportive family. Born in Neptune, NJ to his mother Doris (Sprague) and late father Ivan Renner, he lived in Forked River before settling to the Neshanic Station section of Readington Township twenty-five years ago.


John was proud of the time he served his country as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force from Dec 1965 - Feb 1969 with the Munitions Maintenance Squadron in Yokota Air Force Base in Japan and Hill Air Force Base at Layton, UT. For many years, John had been self-employed as a building contractor, having owned and operated Pine Barren Construction Co. located in Forked Rived in the 1970's, and in the 1980's & 90's, he owned and operated John B. Renner & Sons Construction Co. in Readington. Presently, John was a building supervisor for the Claremont Hills Condominiums Association in Hillsborough.

John was a faithful communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church in Three Bridges. His most cherished moments were the time spent with his family and his work as a carpenter. He enjoyed motorcycling and was a Charter Member of the Forked River Elks.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Genevieve J. (Redelico) Renner with whom he joined hands in marriage with May 21, 1966, his loving children; sons John B. Jr. and wife Marjorie Renner of Somerville and Joel A. and wife Rachael Renner of Phillipsburg and daughters Cynthia and husband Donald Sliker and Kathryn Renner, both of Phillipsburg. He leaves behind his dear mother Doris Virgilio of Piscataway and adored siblings Patricia Green of Dunellen, Jo Ann Alligier of Piscataway, Kathleen Hernandez of Somerville and Michelle Gerwer of Shelbyville, KY and by his seven cherished grandchildren all of whom were very special to him.

Funeral services will be held on Monday beginning 8:15am at Countryside Funeral Home, 724 Route 202 North, Three Bridges, NJ 08887 followed by a 9:00am funeral liturgy at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church in Three Bridges. John will be laid to rest in the family plot of Neshanic Cemetery in Hillsborough. Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9pm and on Monday from 7:45am until service time. Memorial contributions may be sent in his name to the Flemington-Raritan First Aid & Rescue Squad, 26 Route 12, Flemington, NJ 08822 or the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church Building Fund, 105 Summer Road, Three Bridges, NJ 08887.
