Beloved Husband, Father & Grandfather

Readington Township, NJ – Joseph T. Martino, 74, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, April 4, 2006 at his residence with his loving and supportive family by his side in the Whitehouse Station section of Readington. Born in Plainfield, NJ to his late parents Pasquale and Micheline (Modola) Martino, he had lived in Plainfield before settling to Whitehouse Station 35 years ago.

Joseph retired in 1980 as a Fireman with the City of Plainfield, where he had worked for 21 years. Years ago, he belonged to a Plainfield Mason Local Union. He also owned for many years, Joseph T. Martino Construction Co. and was still working at the Deerfield Estates in Flemington. Throughout his years in Whitehouse, he enjoyed farming and raising farm animals on his homestead.

He faithfully served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was a faithful communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church in Whitehouse Station. He was inducted into the Somerset/Hunterdon Bowling Hall of Fame in 1989. He was Secretary and Treasure for the Somerset County 700 Club and Secretary to the Independent Leagues at Green Brook Lanes, both for 35 years. Most recently, he had joined the Flemington American Legion.

Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his two dear brothers, Thomas and John.

Surviving is his beloved wife of 51 years, Victoria Ann (Critelli) Martino, his loving children, daughter Vicki Lynn and husband Jim Flachs of Bethlehem Township, NJ, and sons Joseph J. and wife Cheryl of Bridgewater and Patsy J. and wife Carol of Whitehall, PA. He also leaves behind a brother Julias and his wife Mafalda of Whiting, NJ and a sister Lena Palma of Altoona, PA. His adored grandchildren, Christopher and Amanda Flachs and Joseph M., Tara and Deidre Martino and many nieces and nephews will miss him dearly.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 8, 2006 beginning at 9:15am at Countryside Funeral Home, 724 Route 202 North, Three Bridges, NJ 08887 followed by a 10:00am funeral liturgy at Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church in Whitehouse Station. Entombment to follow in the Somerset Hills Memorial Park located in Basking Ridge. Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours at the funeral home on Friday, April 7, 2006 from 2-4 & 7-9pm and on Saturday from 8:30am until service time. Memorial Contributions may be made in Joseph's name to the Hunterdon Medical Center Hospice or to the Hunterdon Medical Cancer Center, 1100 Wescott Drive, Flemington, NJ 08822.
