Bridgewater, NJ- Joseph Sicola, 60, entered into eternal life on Thursday, June 25, 2009 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ. Born in Jersey City, New Jersey to his late parents Thomas and Lillian (Catanzaro) Sicola, Joseph resided in Fanwood before settling to Bridgewater twenty three years ago.
Prior to his death, "Joe" was the Assistant Principal of Bridgewater-Raritan Regional High School and has dedicated his life to educating our youth. He was devoted to his work and was an outstanding educator who touched the lives of so many people. Many former students have remarked how difficult Math was until they took his class. He showed them how to learn, enjoy the process and be successful. Joe was a member of The National Association of Secondary School Principals, The New Jersey Supervisors and Principals Association and the Bridgewater-Raritan Principals Association. Joe played a vital role in the BRHS Peer Mediation/Conflict Resolution Program and was Co-Chairperson of the "Every 15 Minutes" Program. He was dedicated to community programs. He was Community Facilitator of the Somerset County Policy Academy Policing Program and the liaison for the Bridgewater Raritan High School and the Raritan Police Department.
Joe's passion was his family. He loved to work with his hands, being outdoors, crabbing, taking trips to AC and watching WWF wrestling.
Joe leaves behind his beloved wife of 36 years Pierina "Perry" (Capetola) Sicola with whom he joined hands in marriage on April 15, 1973. He will also be deeply missed by his two loving daughters Melissa Berde of Morganville, NJ and Corinne Sicola of Bridgewater, NJ; by his two dear brothers Simone Sicola of Jacksonville, FL and Thomas Sicola of Warren, NJ, and his three adored grandchildren Andrew, Bradley and Nicholas.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 29, 2009 beginning 9:30 a.m. at Countryside Funeral Home, 724 Route 202 North, Three Bridges, NJ 08887 followed by a 10:30 a.m. funeral liturgy at St. Bernard Roman Catholic Church in Bridgewater. Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation at the funeral home on Sunday, June 28, 2009 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. and on Monday from 8:45 a.m. until service time.
