Obituary

Branchburg, NJ – Joseph Urso, 82, passed away on Sunday, April 22, 2007 at Somerset Medical Center in Somerville. Born in Brooklyn, NY to his late parents Salvatore & Provvedenza (Fazio) Urso, he had lived in Rahway and Beachwood before settling to the Branchburg section of Neshanic Station forty-four years ago.


After faithfully serving his country in the United States Army during WWII, Joseph was honorably discharged as a wounded veteran from Company A 111th Engineer Combat Battalion as a Private First Class. In 1983, Joseph retired after thirty years from City Service Corporation, now known as Citgo Oil, as District Sales Manager for NJ, NY & PA, where he worked out of Valley Forge.

He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church in Three Bridges, a member of Hunterdon Horse & Pony Club, was a Vitsla Hunting Dog Breeder & Owner, member of Gladstone Equestrian Association and was a Sports and Carriage Driver and competitor. He belonged to the Disabled American Veterans and enjoyed to travel in his RV and was involved in many RV clubs.

Joseph leaves behind his devoted wife Gloria Rose (Murphy) Urso, with whom he joined hands in marriage with July 12, 1952 and by his loving children; Michael P. of Branchburg, Barbara and husband Frank of Lackville, PA, Melissa and husband Larry of Chester and Joseph C. and wife Camille of Phillipsburg. He will be sadly missed by his five adored grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 26, 2007 beginning 10:30am at Countryside Funeral Home, 724 Route 202 North, Three Bridges, NJ 08887 followed by an 11:00am funeral liturgy at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church in Three Bridges. Final disposition will be private at St. John's Cloister Cemetery in Brooklyn, NY. Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours at the funeral home on Wednesday, April 25, 2007 from 2-4 & 7-9pm and on Thursday from 9:45am until service time. Memorial contributions in Joseph's name may be sent to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
