Julie Beth Devine-Smith, aged 66, peacefully entered into eternal life on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at Hunterdon Medical Center in Flemington, New Jersey. Born in Brooklyn, New York, she was the daughter of the late William and Sheila (née Pearlman) Devine, and was brought up in Westfield, New Jersey. Subsequently, she lived in Rahway, New Jersey, Roselle, New Jersey, and Old Bridge, New Jersey, before making Flemington her home in 1994. 

Julie graduated from Westfield High School in the Class of 1978. For many years, she owned and operated Divine Antiques in Westfield. After the birth of her son, Devin, she committed herself to being a stay-at-home mother. Given her son's autism, she devoted countless hours, filled with gratitude, to caring for him and teaching him strategies to enhance his quality of life. 

Julie was an artistic individual in numerous respects; she excelled at playing the banjo and had a passion for painting. As a member of the Bluegrass & Oldtime Association of New Jersey, she emphasized community engagement and participated in open acoustic jam sessions. Additionally, she took pleasure in her work as a porcelain repair artist. 

Julie is survived by her beloved husband of 38 years, Chester P. Smith, with whom she exchanged wedding vows on February 27, 1988; her loving son Devin Smith from Flemington; and her brothers, William Devine and Richard Devine.
