Kenneth Gerard Marchinda of Branchburg, New Jersey died peacefully at home, surrounded by his family on Tuesday, July 25th, 2023 in his 57th year. He is preceded in death by his twin brother, Second Lieutenant Anthony Louis Marchinda. He is survived by his loving wife of thirteen years, Rebecca Marchinda (nee Austen), his children, Isaac, Maximilian, and Alexander, his parents, Louis and Judith Marchinda, his brother, David Marchinda (Amy), his sister, Anna Maria Buttrey (Dean), his mother-in-law, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and fifteen nieces and nephews.

Ken was born on December 18th,1966 in Detroit, Michigan. He attended Guardian Angels Elementary and Bishop Foley High School. He lived in Germany with his family from 1977 - 1980 and attended Michigan State University where he majored in Finance and Economics. He was a commodities trader for almost twenty-five years, trading both natural gas and electricity for Mid-American, Hess, Direct Energy, and NRG. A lifelong hockey player, Ken played in many 18 and over leagues until being diagnosed with cancer in May of 2020.

Ken and Becky were married on the eve of Divine Mercy, April 10, 2010 at St. Vincent Ferrer Church in New York City. Their first son, Isaac Anthony Marchinda, was born on January 13th, 2011. Maximilian followed seventeen months later on June 15th, 2012. After losing Marie-Dominique Phillipe at eight weeks gestation on August 8th, 2013, Alexander Blaise Marchinda was born on November 20th, 2014.

Ken spent his time outside of trading doting on his sons, taking them to sporting events, soccer practices, traveling the United States to see family, and watching them play basketball in their school's CYO league. He loved Koinonia Academy, where Becky teaches and the boys attend, and was very involved in the school's buildings and grounds committee. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish and the Military Ministry there. In July of 2022, he was so excited to join Becky in leading a new young adult ministry out of their home called "Convivium."

Ken loved woodworking, playing poker with his extended family, fantasy football, a good scotch, and eating and drinking in New York City with Becky. His in-laws' farm in Canada was a favorite place for solace and rest. He loved being Catholic and took his promise to raise and educate his children in the faith very seriously. He led by example, asking the children to accompany him to the church on Saturdays for confession, bringing them before the Blessed Sacrament whenever he got the chance, fostering their relationships with the many priests and religious he and Becky were close to, and never missing Mass except when physically unable to in the final month of his illness.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations to Koinonia Academy, 1040 Plainfield Avenue, Plainfield, NJ 07060, the Brothers of St. John 103 South Center Street, Orange, NJ 07050, the Apostolic Sisters of St. John, 109 Telford Street, East Orange, NJ 07018 and the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal, 375 13th Avenue, Newark, NJ 07103 be made in Ken's name.

Visitation will take place at Countryside Funeral home, 724 Route 202 North, Three Bridges, NJ 08887 on Friday, July 28, 2023 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. A funeral liturgy will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2023, at 11:00 am at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church, 105 Summer Road, Three Bridges, NJ 08887 followed by interment at St. Bernard Cemetery, 551 Route 28, Bridgewater, NJ.
