Readington Township, NJ- Leonard Jerome Sheeto, 71, entered into eternal life on Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Hazleton, PA, son of the late Edward and Helen (Dobosky) Sheeto, he spent most of his married life in Manville before settling to the Three Bridges section of Readington Township in 2000.
Leonard faithfully served his country as a private first class with the United States Army. He retired in 1999 as a truck driver with Getty Petroleum Corporation in Newark. Prior, he was a manager with W. T. Grant Company in Somerville.
Family was of utmost importance to Leonard and he cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren. He was an avid reader thoroughly enjoying books on World War II. In his spare time he loved taking excursions to Atlantic City. Leonard had a great passion for animals especially "mans best friend" his dogs: Putz, Hubcap and Wyatt. He found pleasure in feeding the squirrels and birds.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his dear sister: Arlene Polchin.
Leonard leaves behind his beloved wife on fifty years Patricia (Seliga) Sheeto; his three loving children: son Michael Sheeto of Long Beach Island; two daughter and sons-in-law: Charlene and Bruce Schuyler of Green Brook; Sharon and Gary Huff of Branchburg; a dear sister and brother-in-law: Eleanor and Louis Emsley of Prospect, VA. He will be deeply missed by his six cherished grandchildren: Sarah Sheeto, Michael Eric Sheeto, Paul & Scott Huff and McKenzie and Carly Schuyler. Leonard is also survived by his daughter-in-law: Heidi Thorkildsen Sheeto of Bethlehem, PA; sister-in-law Geraldine and her spouse Tom McNally; sister-in-law Roseann Voloshin and many nieces and nephews each of whom will truly miss him.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 8, 2010 beginning 9:15 a.m. at Countryside Funeral Home, 724 Route 202 North, Three Bridges, NJ 08887 followed by a 10:00 a.m. funeral liturgy at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church in Three Bridges. Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation at the funeral home on Sunday, March 7, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and on Monday, March 8, 2010 from 8:45 a.m. until service time.
