Obituary

Holland Township, NJ–Lucka John Greco, Sr., 90, entered into eternal life on Friday, May 8, 2009 at Hunterdon Medical Center in Raritan Township. Born in Pittsburgh, PA to his late parents Antonio and Rose (Russitano) Greco, Lucka resided in North Plainfield before settling to the Milford section of Holland Township eleven years ago.



Lucka was honorably discharged from the United States Army having faithfully served his country during World War II and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He retired, from General Motors Corporation located in Clark, as a Tool and Die maker after many years of employment.

Lucka's greatest joy came from time spent with his grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandson. He enjoyed Art and Sculpture, having been a student of Joe Brown's at Princeton University. At the age of 55, Lucka obtained his pilot and gliders licenses. He was also an avid golfer. Those who knew Lucka would describe him as a helper that would do anything for anybody and he was always there for a friend in need.

Besides his parents, Lucka is predeceased by five dear siblings, sisters Josephine Dimaio and Nancy Checchio; brothers Norman, Dominick and Anthony. Lucka leaves behind his beloved wife of 69 years Anna (Capparelli) Greco with whom he joined hands in marriage on January 25, 1940; four loving and devoted children: Betty Ann and husband John Knack of Whitehouse, TN, Arlene and husband Tony Szumski of Bloomsbury, Lucka John and wife Kathy Greco of Milford, Patti and husband Allen Bender of North Plainfield; two dear siblings: Joseph and his wife Nellie Greco of Edison and Marie Greco of Westfield. He also leaves behind his adored eight grandchildren: Lisa, John, Ken, Ryan, Melissa, Amanda, Todd and Kelly; eleven cherished great grandchildren and one precious great-great grandson.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Countryside Funeral Home, 724 Route 202 North, Three Bridges, NJ 08887. Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation at the funeral home on Monday, May 11, 2009 from 1-3p.m. and 6-8p.m.. On Tuesday, May 12, 2009 all are invited to attend the committal service to take place at St. Gertrude's Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel located in Colonia beginning at 11:00a.m. Memorial contributions may be made in Lucka's name to: American Diabetes Association, Center Point Two, 1160 Route 22 East, Bridgewater, NJ 08807 or Alzheimer's Association, Greater NJ Chapter, 400 Morris Avenue Suite 251, Denville, NJ 07834 or American Heart Association, 1 Union Street #301, Robbinsville, NJ 08691-4183.
