Obituary

Flemington, NJ- Lucy Jane Kovar, 79, entered into eternal life on Friday, April 24, 2020 at Hunterdon Care Center in Raritan Township, NJ.  Born in Mt. Airy, NC, daughter of the late Paul and Gladys (Craddock) McHone, Lucy resided most of her life in Hazlet, NJ, but also lived in Miami, FL, Staten Island, NY, Jackson, NJ and Linden, NJ.

Lucy's faith was quite important to her as a parishioner of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church in Three Bridges, NJ.  Lucy worked as a tax collector for the city of Linden for over twenty years and was a member of the Tax Collectors & Assessor's Association of NJ (TCTANJ).  She was a member of the democratic club and liked to bowl. Lucy was an extremely loving & giving person who helped anyone she could in need. She was a Save the Children sponsor for many many years, with many other philanthropic causes close to her heart, always helping children.  Above all, she loved spending time with her seventeen grandchildren and seven greatgrandchildren.

Lucy courageously battled Alzheimer's for over 10 years. She held her head high the whole time and lived her entire life with love and compassion. The disease affected her brain but it never could affect her heart.

Besides her parents, Lucy was predeceased by her beloved husband, Gilbert William Kovar after over fifty five years of marriage, and many brother and sisters.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       Lucy is survived by her devoted six children; Kathleen Hoefler of Jackson, NJ, William and Helen Kovar of Marlton, NJ, Mary Ellen and Howard McLaughlin of Hazlet, NJ, Gregory Kovar of Hazlet, NJ, Jennifer Reed and spouse Kiera Zimmerman of Linden, NJ and Kimberly and Richard Allorto of Readington Twp., NJ.  She will be deeply missed by all of her wonderful GWS friends, her beloved seventeen grandchildren and seven greatgrandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.

Private funeral arrangements are entrusted Countryside Funeral Home, 724 Route 202 North, Three Bridges, NJ 08887.  Lucy will be laid to rest with her beloved husband at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield, NJ.
