Obituary

Bridgewater, NJ - Manuel F. "Manny" Garcia, 85, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at Morristown Medical Center in Morristown, NJ.

Born and raised in Jersey City, NJ, son of the late Francisco and Maria Garcia, he resided in Florham Park, NJ for forty years; he then lived briefly in Naples, FL, and spent his final years in Bridgewater, NJ.

Manny was a graduate of William L. Dickinson High School in Jersey City and attended Saint Peter's University in Jersey City. He retired over thirty years ago after years of dedicated employment with British Petroleum in Columbia, NJ as a general manager and controller. He had previously worked for the DuPont Company in New York, NY as head of accounting. He had also spent time as a stockbroker.

Manny enjoyed racing pigeons, playing bocce ball, horseshoes, bowling and cooking. Manny was an excellent chef and his family and friends always enjoyed his delicious dishes. Manny was a passionate sports enthusiast. He was a huge fan of the NY Giants, Yankees, and Rangers. A favorite pastime was traveling with his wife and family to Marco Island and Naples, FL. He was a former parishioner of the Holy Family Parish in Florham Park and a volunteer for many years on the Florham Park First Aid Squad.

Most importantly, he was a family man. A loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed attending all of his grandchildren's activities and sporting events. He was very proud of every one of them.

Manny is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 62 years, Betty Lou, two loving children, Susan Kreutzer of Readington, NJ and Mark Garcia and his wife, Joan of Madison, NJ.  He will be deeply missed by his five cherished grandchildren, Dana, Sarah, Julie, Rebecca, and Samantha; his dear sister, Maria Fraga of Fairfield, CT, and many adored nieces and nephews and friends.

Along with his parents, Manny was predeceased by his brother, Francisco Garcia; brother-in-law, Joseph "Pepe" Fraga and son-in-law, David Kreutzer.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial mass at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church, 105 Summer Road, Three Bridges, NJ 08887 on Tuesday, April 5 at 11:00 a.m.  Committal words and inurnment will follow in the mausoleum at Holy Cross Cemetery & Mausoleum in Basking Ridge, NJ.  Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Countryside Funeral Home, 724 Route 202 North, Three Bridges, NJ 08887.
