Flemington, NJ – Martin Raymond Gutowski, 92, entered eternal life Friday, April 3, 2020 at Independence Manor in Flemington. His quick wit and sense of humor will be dearly missed. Martin was born to Roman and Viola (Gaydos) Gutowski and raised in Perth Amboy, NJ.

Martin graduated from Perth Amboy High School, where he played football and track. He went on to serve his country during World War II as a Navy Seaman 1st class, then worked as an operating engineer for the Chevron Oil Refinery in Perth Amboy. He was a Jack-of-all-trades, master story-teller, and talented artist and played semi-pro football as a young man.

Martin was predeceased by the love of his life and wife of seventy-one years, Betty Mikkelsen Gutowski, in 2019 and by his sisters Margaret Tozzi and Dolores Hall.

Martin leaves behind his devoted children: Judith Catenacci and husband Peter, Betsy Mansueto and husband Joseph and Martin Gutowski and wife Susan, as well as his devoted brother, Joseph Gutowski and wife, Betty. He also leaves seven adored grandchildren: Nick, Jeff, and Luke Catenacci, Christiana Mansueto Althoff, Marisa Mansueto, and Alissa and Jake Gutowski and two beloved great grandchildren, Calla and Mackenzie.

At the family's request, disposition will be private.
